Local Umbrella Media Named Main Media Sponsor For Carini Women’s Golf Tournament at Pro Kids | The First Tee San Diego

Pro Kids |The First Tee of San Diego, a local charitable organization that challenges underserved youth to excel in life by promoting character development, life skills, and values through education and the game of golf, announced a partnership with Local Umbrella Media as its main media partner for the Carini Women’s Golf Tournament. The Women’s Golf Tournament will be held Sunday, December 3, 2017 at the Colina Park Golf Course in San Diego’s City Heights Neighborhood, where one of the two Pro Kids facilities is located.

“We’re very happy to be partnering with Local Umbrella Media at our main media sponsor for this great event,” said Pro Kids CEO Andrew Holets. “We see ourselves as San Diego’s top Mid-City community golf course, open to the public but also the headquarters for the Pro Kids program. Our mission, to serve the community, is very much in line with Local Umbrella Media’s focus, so we look forward to sharing our resources and working together to foster community involvement in our great neighborhoods.”

Local Umbrella Media is a San Diego-based company that publishes 16 distinct hyperlocal, positive, upbeat, community newspapers, focusing on photos, lifestyle articles, backgrounds, talents, gifts and contributions of the locals who live and work in our communities. Local Umbrella has expanded from a single paper in North Park in 2015 to 19 monthly newspapers covering communities ranging from Mid-City San Diego, East County, North County Coastal and new Inland editions in November. The company’s website is: https://www.localumbrella.com

Brad Weber, founder of Local Umbrella Media and Group Publisher of the newspapers, describes their mission as sharing news and information that celebrates our unique neighborhoods; while promoting the local independent businesses that keep our communities vibrant, safe, clean, and attractive for visitors and residents alike.

“Pro Kids |The First Tee transforms the lives of kids from underserved communities, and we want to help support their events and anything that benefits San Diego’s youth,” said Weber. “We are supporting the Carini Women’s Golf Tournament with extensive promotion on all our newspapers, in both print and digital editions.”

Weber added that the Carini Women’s Golf Tournament’s focus on raising money for programs that specifically benefit girls and young women were an added benefit for his company’s participation. “We were very impressed with the programs at Pro Kids that get funding from the Women’s Golf Tournament,” he said. “One of these programs is called the Girls Mentoring Committee, that among other activities, pairs young girls and young women at the program with successful women in the community for a variety of events and activities where the girls get to participate in new experiences and go to places most would never visit without the program.”
